Volunteers

The Community Education Center of Pallata and the Intitambo Hotel have partnered to offer a great volunteer experience!

If you are interested in non-profit management, business, education, customer service, or international development and you speak English and intermediate to advanced Spanish then this is the volunteer experience for you!

The volunteer would work at both the Intitambo Hotel and the Community Education Center of Pallata.

The Intitambo Hotel needs two front desk assistants to help with check-in/checkout and provide visitors with tour information in English. This position would involve handling money, explaining service options, and requires a friendly personality who likes to meet new people. There are two shifts available. The first is from 7:00am-11:00am and the second is 1:00pm-5:00pm. Some flexibility will be needed to help visitors who many not fit into those check-in, checkout times.

The Community Education Center of Pallata needs volunteer teachers to help teach English, Computer Science, Math, Literacy, Art or whatever else the volunteers might want teach. Pallata is a Quechua (Indigenous) community about 20 minutes up the mountain from Ollantaytambo, and serves students from primary school (ages 6-12) up to adults. Transportation will be provided for the volunteers to and from Ollantaytambo.

Volunteers would need to be able to commit to teaching and working at the hotel for at least one month. The regular teaching schedule would be in the afternoons from around 2-3pm until around 6-7pm.

In exchange the volunteers would be given a place to stay as well as breakfast, lunch and transportation to the community education center. There are also opportunities to earn a little extra money through commission by selling tours to interested visitors!

The volunteers would have their evenings to themselves and days off to explore the Sacred Valley, go for some incredible hikes, and visit Machu Picchu. In addition, volunteers who do an exemplary job would receive letters of recommendation from University Researchers and/or the Hotel Owners for future positions.

Interested volunteers can email Joseph Levitan jlevitan@Sacredvalleyproject.org. Volunteer positions can start immediately and the position is perfect for couples or travel buddies who want a solid place to stay and to work for a while.
